Hello @* Salesforce Administrators *

I've been on a quest to troubleshoot some "uncommon" errors I have been facing with some projects I am on and came to realize they were all connected to one tiny overlooked functionality: Email verification in Salesforce! Uncommon errors like a user scheduling/subscribing to a report yet not getting any emails, to users who cannot approve certain processes etc. could be as a result of their email not verified.

Recent changes from Salesforce (as of the Summer ’24 release) now require that emails listed for all users be verified email addresses. And this is now enforced for all Salesforce orgs and Experience Cloud sites.

So, I put together some troubleshooting methods I explored and wanted to share the results with you. Hope this helps Enjoy!

Create a list view (I named mine: Unverified Email Users) that tracks certain verification fields, such as whether users have verified their email addresses. Then open each one and click the verify close to the email.

  1. From Setup, enter Users in the Quick Find box, and then select Users.
  2. Click Create New View and select these verification-specific fields.

      Full Name

      Active

      Email

      User Verified Email

  • Method 2 (Best Option! Bulk send and great for large groups of unverified users):

Send out the email verification email in bulk with this apex code. You can send to 50 or less users at a time. Tip: Use SOQL to query and export unverified users' IDs.

  1. Create and Save a New Apex Class (BulkEmailVerification). Replace 'userid' in the code with the ID of users that need to verify their email.

 Apex Class Code:

List<String> userIDList = new List<String>{'userid1','userid2', 'userid3', 'userid4'};

        List<User> userIds = [SELECT Name, Email FROM User WHERE Id in :userIDList];

        for (User u : userIds) {

            System.UserManagement.sendAsyncEmailConfirmation(u.Id, null, null, null);

            System.debug('Sending emails to ' + u.Name + ' ' + u.Email);

        }

    }

 2. Open the Developer Console, click Debug > Open Execute Anonymous Window. Enter the following code below to call the method then Execute. This will send a separate verification email to each user in the apex class to verify their email:

BulkEmailVerification.sendEmailVerifications();

Tip: Test your code in a sandbox environment before deploying it to production to ensure it works as expected. This worked perfectly for me 🤩.

 If users can access Salesforce but their email address isn’t verified, they can self-send a verification email to their email:

  1. From your personal settings, in the Quick Find box, enter Advanced User Details, and then select Advanced User Details.

    If your email is verified, you see [Verified] next to your email address and no further action is required.

  2. If not, Next to your email address, click Verify.

    You receive an email with a verification link that expires after 72 hours. While that verification link is active, you can’t use the Verify link to send yourself another verification email.

  3. To finish verifying your Salesforce email address, click the link in the email.

N.B. These actions also verify your Salesforce email address automatically.

  • You confirm your email when your Salesforce account is first created.
  • You reset your password using a link that you received in an email.

Hope this helps someone in the future. Thank you
