Happy Hump Day! (< does that just date me?)

Sputnik Moment is excited to start offering funder/grantmaker/charity-specific Ask Me Anything/open office hours every other Wednesday starting July 15 (click the link to register!).

Come one, come all to these [hopefully] lively, engaging, dare I say candid🧐chats where you can ask me anything – Salesforce, not-Salesforce, industry trends, trust-based?, carry-on only travel hacks, moving abroad, AI, WTF is "headless?", existential/mid-life crisis philosophy, foodie-crawls, KPop Demon Hunters, etc. If nothing else, it's a fun excuse to hang out with me. 😆 [and if you don't like me, share this with your enemies]

This is NOT meant to encroach on the official Salesforce @Nonprofit Hub ask me anything sessions nor on any @Foundations User Group meetings, but supplement and also include peeps even outside of the salesforce ecosystem. And if I don’t know the answer, I’ll pull an LLM 🤣 (yup, totes going to get that into the viral vernacular).

Can’t wait to see you there! And if it’s just me by myself, I’m told I def know how to keep self entertained (turn over >) IYKYK…

Hello everyone. We use NPSP to track our grant applications and their stages from prospecting to closed won.

I understand that the Close Date field is required. However, for grants that we are thinking about applying to, there really isn't a Close Date. For now I just use the last day of our current FY.

May I ask how other folks use the Close Date field? Thank you!

An organization I'm working with has been using the Outbound Funds Module and FormAssembly to manage their grantmaking process, but is quickly scaling up their volume and considering transitioning to a full-fledged grant portal platform. Aside from Salesforce's GMS and an Experience Cloud portal, I've looked a bit at SurveyMonkey Apply, Submittable, and Foundant GLM so far.

Does anyone use a grants management platform that integrates well with Salesforce that they absolutely love? Or experience (good or bad) with any of the above? Thanks!

Just curious here as we have a Grants team and the Close Date field doesn't fit into their process, but since its a required field we have to put a date in there. So just want to see how others have used it.

    Hi @Esteban Lopez,

Fundraising professionals using Salesforce typically utilize the Close Date on Grant Opportunities as a deadline for submitting grant proposals.

This date serves as a reminder for when the application needs to be completed and submitted to the funding organization. Some professionals may also use the Close Date as a milestone for tracking the progress of their grant application process.

While the Close Date may not always align perfectly with the internal processes of every organization, it is important to input a date to ensure that the grant application is submitted on time.

Kindly mark this as best answer if this is helpful,

    Thanks!!!

When attempting to use the installed package's "Manage Collaborators" component, the button works to invite and i can successfully get the email out, but the url that is generated always leads to an invalid page, with an "invalid url" error message.  Is this a known issue and is there any way to fix this or do I have to rely on custom development?  Since this is a managed package, there really is no way for me to modify the url.  Anyone with some insight on this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi All,

I have to implement grant management for a customer. Is there any trailhead/help page for hands on exercise. There is one for the License and Permit but couldn't find anything about grant management

Hi All,

Is there a way to give access to a selective number of portal users to allow them to submit grant application? And not open it up for all users? I understand this is done by setting the application timelines but that opens it up for anyone who has access to the portal.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,

Jasim

Here are our requirement:

1. Create a grant proposal

2. Approval process for grant proposal

3. Grant status

Please suggest any app that your org have successfully been using it.

Hey @Harshitha Rajendra, you can install OFM. it won't provide you the stuff you asked as these things are custom things that your admin has to create. But it will provide you the data model:

I wanted to share a Flow (NO CODE) that can do a Nonprofit Charity Check and retrieve tax record Data for US-based nonprofits and foundations.  I recorded a Demo and overview of the build if you're interested.  I think this could be really helpful for nonprofits and foundations that need to review 990s, tax exempt status, and lookup EINs.  It still has room to grow as I hope to dig into NTEE codes and Funding Codes that are part of the 990 data and could help identify orgs funding or working on a particular issue.

View: Demo/Overview On Youtube

So Part 2, what are your ideas?  What other things do you wish you could have a flow reach get, to display about an organization, or update your records in Salesforce with updated data and save your staff time and help your organization?  Do you know of a free API where this data exists but you don't know how to access it?  If so, please share it in the comments.  I'd like to continue to expand this flow to make it easy for

nonprofits to keep data up to date and have easy access to data that can help inform their work all without having to leave Salesforce.

I'm excited to check this out, thanks! While the nonprofit I work at doesn't really do this kind of data tracking or work, as with most things, I'm sure there's elements I can incorporate into what we do.

My biggest back burner idea/hope is around helping my coworkers who constantly have to go to our state's assessment/taxation website to look up their client's property records and copy the data to our system. We use grant funding to help make energy efficiency upgrades to homes like efficient lightbulbs, weatherizing homes with insulation, and solar panel installation accessible to low/moderate income residents.  And use all that information for reporting purposes. I know there is some kind of "Open Data Portal" for our state, but I haven't had time, or the knowledge/experience, to properly investigate.
