Hello,

We just got Salesforce CRM and Marketing Cloud Engagement and have been working on the deployment however the instructions are confusing due to the rebrand from Pardot to Marketing Cloud Engagement leaving me confused as to weather I am on the right page since a lot the documentation does not reflect the current environment naming conventions. Can someone confirm that the screenshot I have provided is the right Marketing Cloud Engagement section where I can send emails from? The domain reads /

pi.pardot.com/ not (Marketing Cloud Engagement). I appreciate any guidance. I am simply trying to send out an email to our customers but this rebrand from Salesforce has been a horrible experience.

Assuming it is Marketing Cloud Account Engagement, then yes, I agree, the documentation is garbage. Between attempting to implement what was Pardot and implementing Sales Engagement (formerly High Velocity Sales), Salesforce has seriously gone down hill in the quality, and accuracy of its documentation.

Hi, I'm using connected campaigns and have an embedded form on the site. When some leads visit the site and fill out the form, they are being assigned an incorrect source campaign and I can't figure out where that's coming from. Other leads who follow the same journey (page view to form fill) are assigned the correct source campaign. When I look in the activity log for the leads with an incorrect source campaign, sometimes I see the campaign being assigned, and other times, there's no record of the campaign in the activity log. Any thoughts on how to trace where that incorrect campaign is coming from?

I agree on not updating the source campaign, because you always want that to be the true source of how that prospect made its way into Pardot. I highly recommend the process of adding people to a CRM campaign as a completion action for the form, and rely on that inside of Salesforce campaign reports to see all your form fills.

Hello everyone,

I'm experiencing a persistent issue with duplicate contacts being created in waves (2 to 4 records at a time) automatically within seconds of a manual creation.

Despite our efforts, we are struggling to find the root cause as the standard logs don't seem to capture the specific trigger for these clones. This issue has been ongoing since early March.

Our technical infrastructure:

  • Salesforce Edition: Enterprise
  • Sync tools: Einstein Activity Capture (EAC) Bidirectional + Pardot Connector (Account Engagement) v2.
  • Automation: We have no automated contact creation flows (only updates).

The problem: When a user manually creates a contact in Salesforce, we observe the following:

  • T+0: User creates the contact.
  • T+seconds/minutes: 1 to 3 duplicate contacts are created.

The Mystery: Our Duplicate Rule is currently set to "Block" on Create and Edit. Normally, this should prevent any clone from being saved, yet these records are still bypassing the rule.

Questions:

  1. Have you ever encountered the situation ?
  2. Are there specific permissions or "System Mode" processes in SAlesforce or EAC/Pardot that ignore Duplicate Management?
  3. Could you please help me resolve this problem which has been ongoing for weeks (reported at the beginning of March) ?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi there,

I would like you use Bitly to shorten links in Text emails that contain merge fields such as first name and email address. Long link example:

https://preferences.centre.uk/email-reactivation?firstname=

{{{Recipient.FirstName}}}&lastname={{{Recipient.LastName}}}&email={{{Recipient.Email}}}

I've tried double and triple curly brackets around merge fields, but the obvious issue is that these fields are populated at the point of sending, whereas the Bitly link will only be opened when the recipient clicks on it and thus the merge field data will not be there.

I therefore suspect this can't be done, but maybe someone here has come up with a clever workaround?

Many thanks,

Rich

There's actually a bitly connector, I've not even thought about it for some time, so I'm not 100% sure how or if it still works. it says it's for " landing pages, multivariate tests, and files" so it might not fit your use case anyway.

    https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.pardot_connectors_bitly_add.htm&type=5

you most likely need some level of paid bitly since you need an oauth token for it.

    https://support.bitly.com/hc/en-us/articles/230647907-How-do-I-generate-an-OAuth-access-token-for-the-Bitly-API

other than that, no ideas on a workaround, based on what you want to do you'd need a unique bitly for every single link generated.

I'm trying to do a SF flow to send a contact to a specific Pardot list based on a quote request submitted in SF. I'm getting confused on how you get the Pardot ID to be able to use the 'Add Pardot Contact to list' apex action. It seems like it should be easy, but I haven't been able to find an easy way to do it? Support and documentation have been no help.

As background, this is what I'm trying to do: Quote Request Submitted in SF -> Get the contact information in Flow -> Does the contact exist in Pardot? -> If Yes, Add to Pardot list /If No, Add to Pardot and then Add to Pardot list.

You have a few challenges here:

    1. Bulkification: your flow would work well in a Screen Flow, but would utterly fail as a Record-Triggered flow if you do any kind of Contact import.
    2. Sync timing: you can't rely on the Contact getting the Pardot Prospect Id in time for you to use it when you need it in a single flow.

The Pardot API will let you do what you want, but you'll have to likely build something custom.

To do any kind of bulk processing, you'll need batch sizes of 33 at most, as each Contact could result in 3 API calls (and a transaction has a limit of 100 usually).

    1. Query to see if Prospect Exists, get the ID (it was mentioned you MIGHT be able to look at the pardot URL on the Contact to get that ID, which might work most of the time.
    2. If Prospect does NOT exist, create it and hold onto the ID. In this create request, just include the email, the salesforceId (the Contact Id) and optionally first and last name. Let the sync populate all the other fields. If you want the Pardot Campaign to be different, you'll have to include that here too.
    3. Add Prospect to Static List.

An alternative could be simpler. Just add a custom checkbox field to the Contact that indicates the Contact should be added to the List, then have a Dynamic List look for them. Your Flow (or fav rollup tool) could set the value bulk friendly.

Google is now allowing users to change their email address once a year three times (https://blog.google/products-and-platforms/products/workspace/google-account-username-change/

) thus rendering their old email address still technically valid, but dead a end.

I haven't been able to find anything that indicates how Account Engagement will handle this. Will this just mean that the sender list will go stale and activity drops for dead emails, or if someone with a changed email interacts with our content will a duplicate prospect be created? Anyone know?

I'm pretty sure the old one will still forward to the new one, so they will still get delivered.  But there's no mechanism for this to update your data with the new address.

    Hi @Alex Vague

Please check this article - How to Create Custom List Views for the Email Content Object. Hope it helps!

This problem existed prior to me joining this company, so I'm not sure how it was set up. Once a user clicks the 'unsubscribe' button on the landing page, it goes to a page that reads:

"The information you’re about to submit is not secure

Because this form is being submitted using a connection that’s not secure, your information will be visible to others."

It then gives you the option to 'send anyway' or 'go back.' If you were to send anyway, it will opt them out. I've searched and searched for reasons this would happen, but I've been unsuccessful.

Make sure the link is https:// and not http://

Make sure the org's tracker domains are verified.

Has anyone used Pardot/MCAE to send email donation Acknowledgements in NPC or NPSP? It seems like it needs major workarounds to:

  1. Get the Donation Date and Amount into MCAE to use in an email
  2. Deal with the scenario of two gifts given in one day
  3. Update an Acknowledgement Sent field on the Opp (NPSP) or Gift Transaction (NPC)

Thanks!

Hi @Luke Dalach this is doable directly from Salesforce (NPSP/NPC) more easily. Flows can be used to set up email alerts and they'll send the email from selected email templates. The flows can be scheduled to run on a specific time of the day as well. If there is a need to send it from MCAE then you need to link Salesforce with it and sync the data. The automation need to trigger the emails based on the dates to send email.

Our Account Engagement database is getting close to the mailable prospect limit, so I've been working on a suppression strategy to free up room.

I set up two dynamic lists that both feed into a single automation rule that marks prospects as Do Not Email:

  1. The first list captures anyone with a Hard Bounce Detected email status who isn't already marked DNE. Since hard bounces are permanent, this felt like a safe call but I wanted to check that this is considered best practice.
  2. The second list captures prospects who haven't had any activity in 12+ months, were created more than 12 months ago, and are not already marked as DNE

Both lists are tied to a separate reactivation rule that flips Do Not Email back to False if a suppressed prospect shows any activity, so mailability is restored automatically if they engage again.

Is this a solid approach? Any suggestions or things you would do differently?

I appreciate any feedback!

Agree about archiving - it is not a feature so I assumed that sending to the recycle bin is what people are refer to when they reference "archiving" prospects. Since they are always retrievable.
