ATTENTION: End of Support for all versions of Salesforce1 for iOS on iOS 9.1 and earlier

Beginning with the release of version 10.0 for Salesforce1 for iOS downloadable app, Salesforce will end technical support services for all versions of the Salesforce1 for iOS downloadable and mobile browser app on iOS 9.1 and earlier devices.

What is changing?

After the release of version 10.0 for Salesforce1 for iOS downloadable app*, Salesforce will no longer provide technical support, bug fixes, or enhancements for Salesforce1 issues that arise on iOS 9.1 and earlier devices.

Users on version 7.3.4 of the Salesforce1 for iOS downloadable app running any supported version of iOS will not experience any app disruption after the release of Salesforce1 for iOS, version 10.0. However, resolving any future issues specific to the app version 7.3.4 will require an upgrade to version 10.0 of the Salesforce1 for iOS downloadable app, which requires updating the device iOS version to 9.2.

* Currently targeted for June 2016; date subject to change.

What action do I need to take?

We encourage you to notify your iOS 9.1 and earlier device users to upgrade to iOS 9.2 and later so that users can do the following:

  • Have the ability to download the Salesforce1 downloadable app, version 10.0

  • Optimize their future use of the Salesforce1 for iOS downloadable and mobile app.

Where do I go for more information?

See the End of Support for all versions of Salesforce1 for iOS on iOS 9.1 and earlier article (https://help.salesforce.com/apex/HTViewSolution?urlname=End-of-Support-for-all-versions-of-Salesforce1-for-iOS-on-iOS-9-1-and-earlier&language=en_US) and Summer ‘16 release notes (https://releasenotes.docs.salesforce.com/en-us/summer16/release-notes/rn_mobile_s1_newfeat_iOS10app_os_reqs.htm). Join the discussion in the Salesforce1 Mobile App Success Community Group. For additional questions, open a case with Support via the Help & Training portal.

Salesforce Admins, we want to notify you that support for Microsoft Internet Explorer version 11 (IE11) to access Lightning Experience and the Salesforce1 Mobile Browser App will begin to retire in Summer ‘16*.

For questions, post here: http://sforce.co/1WDLbRF

What is changing?

Beginning with Summer ‘16, the following changes will take place:

  • Users of existing orgs can continue to use IE11 to access Lightning Experience and the Salesforce1 mobile browser app on Windows 8.1 phones until December 16, 2017.

  • Users of new orgs created after Summer ’16 will not be able to use IE11 to access Lightning Experience and the Salesforce1 mobile browser app. Instead, IE11 users will automatically be redirected to Salesforce Classic.

* Currently targeted for June 2016; date subject to change

NOTE:

  • There is no impact to Salesforce Classic as IE11 will remain a supported browser.

  • Because IE11 is the only approved browser for using the Salesforce1 mobile browser app on Windows 8.1 phones (https://help.salesforce.com/apex/HTViewHelpDoc?id=sf1_requirements.htm), support for Salesforce on Windows 8.1 phones effectively ends when IE11 access is disabled. We recommend that your Windows 8.1 phone users upgrade to Windows 10 and the Microsoft Edge mobile browser, or another supported mobile device-browser combination, before IE11 is disabled for your org.

Why are we retiring this product?

With Summer ’16, the Lightning Platform adds a new advanced and flexible security architecture. These improvements depend on a number of security standards that are built into modern browsers. Unfortunately, IE11 does not support these standards.

What action do I need to take?

Prior to the disablement of IE11 support, customers need to ensure that their users are using Lightning Experience-supported browsers and supported mobile device-browser combinations for the Salesforce1 mobile browser app. Customers with existing orgs have until December 16, 2017 to transition their users. Customers with new orgs created after the Summer ’16 release will not be able to use IE11 to access Lightning Experience and the Salesforce1 mobile browser app.

For customers with existing orgs that have Lightning Experience enabled, Salesforce admins can leverage the “Disable Access to Lightning Experience from Microsoft IE11” update within the Critical Update Console to manage the user transition process. This update allows admins to proactively disable IE11 access to Lightning Experience and the Salesforce1 mobile browser app in advance of the expiration date on December 16, 2017.

UPDATE: Salesforce1 for iOS Release To Follow Summer ‘16 Release

Are you an admin of a Salesforce org with active iOS mobile users, if so please be aware that the next major release of the Salesforce1 downloadable app for iOS will be available after the Summer ‘16 release*. The Salesforce1 for iOS update in Summer ‘16 will require iOS version 9.2 or later.

* Currently targeted for June 2016; date subject to change

As announced in December 2015, the release of the Salesforce1 downloadable app for iOS, version 8.0 was delayed due to a compatability issue with iOS 9. This issue is now resolved in iOS 9.2 and later. Key new features in the Salesforce1 for iOS update in Summer ‘16 include enhanced Mobile Device Management (MDM) support and the availability of Salesforce Knowledge articles.

What action do my Salesforce1 for iOS users need to take?

The Salesforce1 for iOS update in Summer ‘16 will require iOS 9.2 or later. To ensure a smooth transition for your org, we recommend that your users are running the latest version of iOS. Users can install the latest iOS version for free. For help, see the Apple Support site [https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204204].

For the full list of iOS devices that Salesforce1 supports, see Requirements for the Salesforce1 Mobile App help topic [https://help.salesforce.com/apex/HTViewHelpDoc?id=sf1_requirements.htm]. Salesforce1 for iOS, version 7.3.x, will be the only version available for download for devices with iOS 9.1 or earlier.

NOTE: This release schedule has no impact to the Salesforce1 downloadable app for Android. Orgs with Android users will be notified when we approach the next major release of the Android app.

How can I get more information?

More information will be announced as we approach the Summer ‘16 release.

For additional questions, open a case with Customer Support via the Help & Training portal.

#TechComms #EU1 #System Performance

We are experiencing a performance issue affecting search for a subset of customers on the Salesforce EU1 instance. We’re working urgently to resolve this and will post additional information to

www.trust.salesforce.com as we learn more.

On March 3, 2015, the Salesforce Technology Team observed a performance degradation issue affecting Knowledge Base Search on the EU1 instance. The problem began at 9:10 UTC and was resolved by 15:56 UTC. During this time, a subset of customers may have experienced an inability to search for recently created or modified Knowledge Base records. Thank you for your continued business and patience during this situation.

Root Cause: The problem was caused by resource contention on one node of the EU1 database tier, affecting the resources available for Knowledge Base indexing. Action was taken to reduce resource contention, allowing normal Knowledge Base indexing performance to be restored.

    Actions to Prevent Future Incidents:

    The Salesforce Technology Team -

    - Is performing additional changes to reduce resource contention on the EU1 database tier

    - Is investigating better ways to manage resource contention within our database tiers

We will also make this information available on

    www.trust.salesforce.com.
