Hi everyone,

I need help creating a Salesforce report showing Leads who have opted in to marketing emails and have no purchases, grouped by our custom Dx Target field (BGG, MDS, BTS and Cdx).

Our available report types include:

  • Leads
  • Leads with converted lead information
  • Consent with Leads with User
  • Campaigns with Leads
  • Campaigns with Leads and Converted Lead Information

We have Email and Email Opt Out fields on Leads, and a separate Consent object. I need to identify which consent field confirms an active email opt-in, since Email Opt Out = False alone does not necessarily prove consent. We have consent requested.

For purchases, we could potentially use Orders or Closed Won Opportunities, depending on which reflects sales reliably in our organisation.

My main difficulty is combining the consent and purchase checks in one report. Filtering Converted = False does not independently prove that the Lead’s company has never purchased. Also, a Lead can be converted into a Contact before making a purchase.

Could you advise on:

  1. Which report type would be best for Leads with active opt-in and no purchases?
  2. Can this be done with an existing report type and cross-filters?
  3. How should an unconverted Lead be linked to its company’s Account to check Orders or Closed Won Opportunities?
  4. How can we exclude companies with any qualifying purchase while retaining Leads with no purchase records?
  5. If existing report types cannot support this, what minimum custom report type, relationship or field would be needed?
  6. How can we avoid duplicate Leads or including withdrawn consent when multiple Consent records exist?

The desired output is Lead Name, Company, Email, Dx Target, active email opt-in and purchase status, grouped by Dx Target.

At this stage, the requirement is Leads who have opted in, without restricting the opt-in date to this year.

Thank you for your guidance!

    Hi @Iris Matthey-Jaquet

Yes, you can use Orders or Closed Won Opportunities as the purchase source. However, an unconverted Lead has no standard relationship to an Account, so a standard report/cross-filter cannot reliably check the Account’s purchase history.

If unconverted Leads must be included, you’ll need a reliable Lead → Account relationship (for example, populated via Flow), and then a Custom Report Type can be used to report on the related purchase data.

So, without creating a relationship/field, the complete requirement cannot be reliably achieved.

If this helps resolve your issue, please consider marking it as the Accepted Answer so it can help other Trailblazers as well. Thanks!
