Resources from the AMER Ask Me Anything (AMA) Session from Weds, Oct 16, 2024
Here are some of the resources shared as part of the live AMER Ask Me Anything Session
THANK YOU to our lead @Rob OBrien and our hosts @Dar Veverka and @Hayley Tuller who handled a TON of questions - it was a great conversation as usual, the hour flew by!
These live AMAs are not recorded to allow for open, honest conversations. Here are some written follow-up resources, as promised!
I'm trying to process gift batches on nonprofit cloud. It seems that it can only process one batch at a time. I can increase the volume to about 5 with a loop, but even if I use queued apex, I'm restricted to 5.
- There is minimal documentation on this
- Might need to submit a salesforce support case, they may or not be able to help with this as the documentation is not there: https://help.salesforce.com/s/support
- Overall, might just have to re-model some stuff
- Gift Entries: https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sfdo.NPC_FR_Gift_Entries.htm&type=5
- Submit a case: https://help.salesforce.com/s/support
What is the advantage of using gift commitment schedules over a series of unpaid gift transactions? We are working with a client who is concerned about maintaining data between both records for their custom GC schedule.
- The biggest limit is if someone wants to hone some sort of automation... it depends!
- In Winter 25 there is soft credit inheritance
- Be careful when you're throwing out parts of the implications of the standard data model
- Hard to know what might get lost - whats the risk of not doing this
- @Dar Veverka not sure if I got down what you were saying correctly, please add any other context I might have missed!
I have a complex reporting question... screen shots here https://trailhead.salesforce.com/trailblazer-community/feed/0D54V00007ifoNvSAI
- If you put a $0 payment for your in kind what would happen?
- Go in to npsp settings and turn on payment
- If its type, in kind, a flow to make it a $0 payment
- Could also use apsona multi-step reporting, Apsona Multi-step reporting: https://www.apsona.com/multi-step-reporting/
- You have not made a mistake its just how it works! :)
- Possible that a nesting is messing you up, “and”
Hello everyone, So I am a Salesforce Admin in the job hunt right now, I am wanting to navigate in the Nonprofit sector, I will like to get a little orientation towards navigating towards it.
- Connect with your local user group! Example the Nonprofit DC group: https://trailblazercommunitygroups.com/salesforce-nonprofit-user-group-washington-dc-united-states/
- Jobs group: https://trailhead.salesforce.com/trailblazer-community/groups/0F94S000000kHeISAU
- Do what you can regionally, national orgs (NTEN) Job board - sometimes has SF jobs, all nonprofit jobs: https://www.nten.org/jobs. Also Idealist.org
- The nonprofit industry is very unique even if you are building salesforce skills, gain industry experience
- Get the nonprofit cloud cert
- Consider omni-studio, you’ll hear a lot about nonprofit cloud, and omni is a huge tool that. isavaialble so this is a great way to seperate yourself from the competition
- have also some front end experience will enhace your admin skills
- FLOW is going to matter
- NETWORKING, networking, networking! Filling out apps onlines is not always how you get a foot in the door.
- Job board Rob just mentioned: https://d5f000009l1udeaa-dev-ed.my.site.com/s/
What are the feelings about using Person Accounts only in NPC vs. a mixed model (e.g. Person Accounts for donors vs. Contacts for folks who are only a contact at a foundation or corporation)?
- Some say, Dont do it.... its a bad end user experience if someones going to have to remember if its a person account or a contact
- If youve got ANY PAs, go ALL PA,
- Another idea, could work - what are the reasons, what ware you tracking
- REALLY DEPENDS
- Others say, setup can be biforkated
- Overall, dont confuse the. endusers, what does the UI look like to encourage the action
Final thoughts:
- Join a local user group near you! https://trailblazercommunitygroups.com
- Join the next Nonprofit AMA session:
- AMER: 12th November, 10:15 am CT (NOTE: The next AMER session has been moved from Weds, Nov 13 to Tues, Nov 12 to avoid conflicting with the upcoming Chicago Community Sprint).
Thanks again to our hosts and everyone who attended! Hope to see you all again at a future session, see links in the group sidebar or above^ woo!
