#Enhanced0 debatiendo

In one of my brighter moments, I decided that The Thing To Do™ was clone a developer sandbox without enabling enhanced domains so that I could figure out the SSO implications.

As a bonus, now I have two more or less identical sandboxes so I can compare side by side. And initially I was trying to blame this behavior on Enhanced Domains because the message I got was

"We can't display this page because your browser blocks cross-domain cookies, but you can view this page in Salesforce Classic. Click here to open this page in Salesforce Classic."

But as it turns out, this happened in both sandboxes, so Enhanced Domains didn't cause the problem, but it also didn't fix  it. Which I thought was the point of the exercise.

The steps to reproduce are:

  1. Open a new Incognito Window (Chrome -- I haven't tested this in Firefox or Edge yet).
  2. Navigate to Setup -> Users -> Users/Profiles/Permission Sets... take your pick*.

The URL is correct -- with or without the .sandbox. but you get this message. And it's correct, you can open it and do whatever you need to in Classic. But what I'm not getting is why this particular collection of circumstances always leads to this conclusion.

It's not so much a "problem" as "something I'm not quite understanding" and (might not even if it were explained). Specifically (a) what causes it, and (b) what prevents enhanced domains form resolving these use cases?#

*Permission Set Groups did not exhibit this behavior because a while back I had opt enable the agility to expire a permission set group, and part of that process was converting that page to Lightning UI, which doesn't have this conflict.

I've only just come across this when searching for a solution to the same issue in incognito mode, for the users list in setup. With the pointers here and elsewhere, it turns out that Chrome incognito does indeed block cross-domain cookies by default:

    https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/9845881?hl=en#zippy=%2Chow-incognito-mode-works

And the fix of enabling them via the site settings sliders in the URL bar does resolve it:

I've only just come across this when searching for a solution to the same issue in incognito mode, for the users list in setup.

Hope this helps (belatedly!) anyone else looking at this.

Hi everyone,

Do you happen to know where to find the latest version of the #Enhanced Recurring Donations Metadata package for Upgrading to Enhanced Recurring Donations in NPSP?

We have NPSP v3.226 installed. After I click on the Launch MetaDeploy link shown in the screenshot below, there's no package matching this name.

Thank you in advance for any insight you could share!

    Keiji,

I actually ran into a Pre-install validation error using the link above. After some research, I found this has been created as a known issue and the workaround can be found here: https://issues.salesforce.com/issue/a028c00000sv9cBAAQ/nonprofit-success-packnpsp-pre-install-validation-has-failed-when-upgrading-enhanced-recurring-donationserd?_ga.

This article pointed me to this installation page, which worked for me: https://install.salesforce.org/products/npsp/8ce5f4be/enhanced-recurring-donations. Posting here in case someone else needs it as well.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to ask two questions about domain redirections.

1. I can see the 'Redirect previous My Domain URLs to your current My Domain' option in my sandboxes, but not in production.

Is there a reason for that?

2. I was reading the 'Prepare for the End of Redirections for Non-Enhanced Domains' article.

I want to make sure I understand correctly.

Our Community URL is https://[Our Company Name].force.com.

Can this URL redirection be used after Winter '25 is released on our org? (Based on what I understand, this URL redirection will stop upon Winter '25 release, but I want to be sure I understand correctly).

Thanks!

Hi @Gidi Abramovich and thank you for these questions.

    1. I can see the 'Redirect previous My Domain URLs to your current My Domain' option in my sandboxes, but not in production.

Is there a reason for that?

That option is only available after you deploy a change to your My Domain. Otherwise, there are no previous My Domain URLs to redirect. My guess is that enhanced domains are deployed in your sandbox, which is a deployed My Domain change.

The other reason this option can be unavailable is if you deployed a change and then clicked Remove Previous My Domain. (Like the checkbox, that button is only visible after you deploy a change to your My Domain.)

Your *.force.com site URL is redirected until Winter '25. Those redirections stop with that release. We recommend that all customers use the time between when they deploy enhanced domains and when those redirections stop to transition to the new site URLs. We recommend these steps:

    1) To help uncover any place the old site URL is used in your org configuration, temporarily disable those redirections during testing. (You can re-enable the redirections afterwards.) See Disable Redirects for Your Previous Force.com Site URLs for more info.

    2) Notify your customers/users about the new URL. Although the redirections are in place, it's an extra step in getting them to the new URL. Plus, that's part of the transition for when the old *.force.com URL isn't redirected anymore. For some high-level guidance, see Notify Users and Customers About a My Domain Change

    3) Log My Domain Hostname Redirections and use that log to determine where your old URL is being used. This can help you encourage your visitors to update their bookmarks and links.

    I hope that this helps!

I wanted to poll anyone here for reasons you've seen or heard to NOT upgrade from "Legacy" Recurring Donations to Enhanced Recurring Donations.

Setting up for success would naturally mean using the tool that is being improved upon vs the one that's not. Documentation for the fundraising integration mentions modifying mappings if using ERDs, but that is all. So apart from that sort of thing, are there ANY reasons to not upgrade? We're not using the standard Payments object, in case that figures in.

Thanks in advance for insights.

From an admin/user perspective, we have not yet made the switch because we are nervous about breaking something that is currently working! We completed our donor database build and migration in 2019 shortly before Enhanced RDs was released, and we haven't budgeted for any consultant time this year, so it's on me to fix anything that breaks. It's on my task list, we're just not there yet. I need to reach out to @Ryan Ozimek and the Soapbox crew to make sure that it won't cause any issues with our donation platform 😅

Hi,

I'm trying to determine whether we want to use the Legacy Recurring Donation NPSP features or the new Enhanced version. The big concern I have with the Enhanced is it sounds like it will only create 1 donation/opportunity at a time. However, we want to include recurring donations/opps in the projections through the end of the Fiscal Year (which legacy allows us to do). Does Enhanced allow us to customize the number of opportunities created? Or will it only ever do 1 at a time?

When one of our recurring donors would like to change their recurring giving amount (typically a monthly gift), we cancel their plan (open-ended status = closed) and create a new one for the amount they'd like to give so the calculations of what they've committed to versus have remaining are correct. We do this because the majority of our donors are fixed/non-open-ended donors who have agreed to give for a set number of months, typically 12, and if we just changed the amount of their giving the calculation of their total expected and total remaining would be off.

Curious...do you have fixed recurring donors in your org and, if so, how does your org update giving amounts and calculate amount committed vs. outstanding and does this work well for you?

Thanks!

@Morgyn-Britney Abbey I know what you've described is pretty common in general, but I'll leave specific advice for the Community (cc'ing the @Fundraising and #Recurring Donations folks). You'll be happy to know that the new #Enhanced Recurring Donations product allows you to modify the dollar amount (and other fields) of a Recurring Donation and set a specific "Effective Date" so the change can be applied in the future automatically. Meaning, if you get a donor calling in to increase the amount they are giving but ask for it to start in two months, you can set that up on the existing RD, and forget it. On the effective date, the change is applied. Also, only 1 future Opty is created and the totals are a bit different, so you shouldn't have any options with Fixed Length.

Check out the upgrade guide to see if updating is right for your org 🙂

Hi,

I can't figure out where is the correct place to ask this, but is there any documentation on the rewrite of recurring donations?

Even, the objectives would be enough.

thanks
