Mac or Windows for Board Review

I noticed a majority of candidates are using Mac and my understanding is that the remote system that you access during the exam is also Mac. Do you have an option to choose Windows OS for the exam or everyone expected to work with Macs? I am trying to determine if I should switch to Mac so I am sufficiently used to it for the exam. @Suzanne Ferguson @Alexis Ardito

    @Ahsan Zafar you will be accessing the proctor's machine (which you can request to be a Mac or a PC) using your own personal computer. However, do keep in mind that because you will be working in Google Drive, functionality and features will be the same regardless of whether or not the proctor machine is a Mac or a PC. So the type of computer is less important than being able to navigate Google Drive. Hope this helps!

How much importance is for having Business knowledge for CTA?

Reason I am asking this question is, I may have worked in BFSI Domain for past 5 years and If I get a scenario of Energy and Utilities in review board exam. I may not make relevant assumptions as my domain knowledge is not enough. Since review board is for checking technical expertise, is it possible to swap scenario?  #Jobs @Suzanne Ferguson

    My 2 cents: you are not expected or required to be an industry domain expert in order to pass the review board. Yes, you may get a scenario in an industry that you have no real-life experience in, however in my experience the scenarios are written in such a way that domain knowledge is not required in order to make the necessary assumptions. The industry is almost coincidental, and is provided just to make the scenario more concrete and realistic- industry concepts, if relevant or important, will be explained to you in the scenario. You are given enough information to understand what the company is trying to accomplish, why they are doing the project, and what the requirements are (and just enough info to read between the lines to identify any implicit requirements that might be necessary to support the overall functionality of the build). 

     

    I highly doubt you would be allowed to swap a scenario. Best way to prepare is to do as many mocks as possible with as many different mock judges that are ideally at least as far along as you are on the #JourneyToCTA to get diverse perspectives and ways of thinking.

     

    Have you encountered any mock scenarios where you felt the lack of industry experience prevented you from making the necessary assumptions?

Hey there everyone,

 

I've got my System and Application Architect certifications and have been a Salesforce Technical Architect for a larger company for a couple years now (I was a consultant that was a lead developer for several years before that) and I'm wanting to take a shot at the CTA Board in the upcoming year. I was wondering if anyone had any insight on either of these three questions.:

 

1) When does Salesforce post a CTA Board Schedule for the new year? It's only had dates for past boards in the last couple months.

 

2) How many CTA-601 workshops there typically are in a year? I would really like to attend one, but it looks like they have very limited classes.

 

3) For anyone that has taken the CTA Exam and applied through the normal case request process, how long was your wait to be accepted by a CTA Board?

    - Thanks for the questions! Glad you are on your path!

    We just wrapped up Dreamforce and will be posting the Review Board dates and locations for 2020 in early December. New locations will be introduced next year!

    For the CTA-601 Workshops - the schedules will also be posted for those soon and there will be more available as the demand has increased!

    And as far as the case request goes, we do process the cases in the order they are received. At times there is more volume so wait time can vary and during the holidays, response times will be delayed. Our team will be working with you to ensure you have the right path and the correct resources to be successful!

In between other things, I've been working pretty hard on mock review board exams. How big a jump is it from exams to the CTA review board? I've spent the last 4 weeks finding out so I could share it with you. Hope this helps.
