We are thinking of integrating Mailchimp with Salesforce to send out regular newsletters about our events to our contacts in Salesforce. We have a free Mailchimp account now. When reading the documentation on Salesforce Mailchimp integration I came across this
- Your Mailchimp account will need to have Manager access or higher to complete this integration. To learn more about user levels, check out Manage User Levels in Your Account
Does this mean, we can only integrate if we have a paid Mailchimp account? Can someone show some guidance if free Mailchimp account can be integrated with Salesforce?
You don’t need a paid Mailchimp account just for the integration. The Manager access part is about user permissions, not pricing and you can connect a free account as long as the user has the right role.
Where it gets tricky is functionality. The free plan works fine for basic contact sync and simple newsletters, but once you need more advanced segmentation or automation, you’ll start hitting plan limitations rather than integration limits.
Also worth noting from experience, the native Mailchimp for Salesforce package can be a bit rigid and sometimes hard to troubleshoot. If you run into that later, an alternative is using something like Skyvia to sync Contacts more explicitly between Salesforce and Mailchimp. Not required, but it gave us more control over mapping and updates when the standard connector wasn’t flexible enough.
