Source Tracking in Sandboxes

This is a community group to discuss the Source Tracking in Sandboxes. This page should be used to report feedback and discuss use of the feature, as well as for announcements from the product manager.

Hello together,

I have a production with our package installed . If I created a  dev sandbox of my production the trigger handler records are missing. But the clases are transfered to the sandbox.

I am wondering how NPSP did it with their products. Because the trigger handler records are transfered. Does any one know how they did it?

On the screenshot you see our trigger handler records (in the red rectangle). These are missing in the dev sandbox. The npsp trigger handler (green rectangle) are also in the sandbox.

FYI we use 2nd generation packages.

Sandbox creation: the trigger handler records does not shift form production to sandbox

Possible workaround to write an apex trigger who creats the mission trigger handler records after creation the sandbox. It is possible to fire an apex trigger while sandbox creation (see screenshot).  But I think it is not the best solution.

Thanks for helping

Best wishes

Can we track two developer sandboxes using this feature? If not, can someone suggest how to keep a track of the change in two different developer sandboxes?

You'll need two separate folders to support different VS Code instances. Behind the scenes, data for your latest local versions are stored in the .sf folder, and switching connections won't update when changing connections. You'll want to keep the data for each sandbox separate.

Hi Team,

On salesforce, I'm getting the company phone number in this format (222) 121-1234 from the data team, however to dial on dialer, I need the country code first, then the company phone number without any formatting.

For ex:- 12221211234.(initial 1 number digit is  is country code rest is phone number)

Can someone please help me here to ressolve this.

Using https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/atlas.en-us.232.0.sfdx_dev.meta/sfdx_dev/sfdx_dev_source_tracking_source_tracking_profiles.htm to get FLS for profile, when I edit the description of the profile and then issue a pull command I don't get FLS information for those fields.

When I right-click on the force-app folder and choose "SFDX: Retrieve Source from Org" I get an error "SFDX: Retrieve Source from Org failed to run", which I assume is due to the size of metadata exceeding the limit.  If I right-click on the specific profile that I want to extract and choose "SFDX: Retrieve Source from Org" the resulting profile that is extracted does not include any FLS information. It only contains classAccesses, loginIpRanges, and userPermissions.  What is removed from profile that I have already in source control are customMetadataTypeAccesses, fieldPermissions, recordTypeVisibilities, tabVisibilities   Is there something that else that I need to do to get a full profile extract?

https://trailblazer.salesforce.com/issues_view?id=a1p3A000000ATThQAO - The stated workaround for this is to use the Web UI to add the values. This is not feasible to do with large amounts of translations. Is there a step-by-step workaround for this bug that can be done to retrieve the source and/or metadata after an import? @Neha Ahlawat

Hi @Peter Knolle, one workaround that I know of is also described in the second response on this question https://salesforce.stackexchange.com/questions/217908/sfdx-translation-override. You can use mdapi:retrieve (and NOT source:retrieve) as an alternate to "retrieve" large amount of translations. Of course, it will retrieve all translations metadata, and not just the changed ones.  fYI @Nelle Sacknoff who owns the translations metadata type.

When I do a force:source:pull, I get an error:

Entity of type 'ListView' named 'PricebookEntry.Commerce Pricebook1616939283417' cannot be found

Metadata API received improper input. Please ensure file name and capitalization is correct. Load of metadata from db failed for metadata of type:ConnectedApp and file name:Jenkins.

I do not want to track these files and they are not in my git repo and not on my local machine.

My .forceignore has the following, but they do not seem to be respected.

PricebookEntry.Commerce Pricebook1616939283417.listView-meta.xml

force-app/main/default/objects/PricebookEntry/listViews/PricebookEntry.Commerce Pricebook1616939283417.listView-meta.xml

**/connectedApps/**

Jenkins.connectedApp-meta.xml

force-app/main/default/connectedApps/Jenkins.connectedApp-meta.xml

It is blocking me from pulling source from the sandbox.

What do I do to get past this?

@Peter Knolle Glad you are unblocked. Please do follow up with the additional questions support asked you. It will help us find out if there is a bug wherein source tracking code is not reading your entry in forceignore file, or if the entry had to be made in a different way that you did. I will get back to you with what I find. Thanks!

Morning all,

Can someone advise the status of the force:soure:tracking:reset and force:source:tracking:clear commands. I don't appear to be able to use them and get and error when I try.

For example, if I run sfdx force:source:tracking -h I get "Warning: force:source:tracking is not a sfdx command."

Am I being dim and missing something?

    @Geoffry Billing

I just tried it locally, and I did not get any error. Here is the response I got -

    ~ sfdx force:source:tracking -h

    manipulate local source tracking files

    USAGE

    $ sfdx force:source:tracking:COMMAND

    COMMANDS

force:source:tracking:clear clear all local source tracking information

force:source:tracking:reset reset local and remote source tracking

Are you still seeing it ? Maybe something in your setup. Do you see the right CLI version on using the command "sfdx force" ?

Hi all now that this is GA for Spring 21 do we still have to refresh the sandboxes to make this available?

I'm struggling to set the new Sandbox Source Tracking environment variable SFDX_ENABLE_MULTIUDX=true but it does not look like SFDX will acknowledge the new key

As I understand the environment variable it should make it possible to work multible developers on the same sandbox and a sfdx force:source:status and pull should only give me my own changes?
