This is specifically an NPSP question. We are a nonprofit organization, and I am on the Fundraising/"Development" team.

No matter how many times I look into this, I have not been able to solve it.

We process donations via NPSP Data Import batches.

Our donors often donate via Donor-Advised Funds or Family Foundations, and so we need to "soft credit" them which we can do easily enough with the "Soft Credits" Field Bundle in the Form Fields section of Batch Templates which creates a contact role for them on the opportunity.

That's all just the background, the issue is in our review process for batches and soft credits:

We had a report created that lets us review all open batches instead of having to open each item in each batch for review.

The problem is that the fields for contact roles that are used in the batch do not populate on the report even when they are populated in the batch.

This is probably very niche and so I don't know if anyone has ever encountered or solved for this problem, but it's very annoying to review batches in the otherwise clean report and not be able to validate whether the gift processor has added the soft credit to a gift without having to open up the full batch and view each gift to verify, especially during times of high volume.

Below are screenshots of how the field looks in the batch, versus the report, which doesn't show this information. NPSP Data Import Report does not show Contact roles/Soft Credits in reports even when present in the batch

Good point—staging objects can definitely make reporting confusing. It might help to confirm whether the issue is happening during the import step or only when querying the final dataset. Also worth checking if the staging table schema is changing between runs or if any transformations are applied before reporting.
