I have inherited Salesforce (non profit) with little instruction. I want to run a simple report showing the giving of our donors from Jan 1. 2017-Dec. 31, 2017n so that I can send end of year tax letters. I have watched every video, read blogs, used trailhead....can't find help! Is there a simple step by step to follow to run this report?

If you open the "Reports" tab,
Create a new Report
I think you would want an Opportunities based report, are your donations recurring or all one time? I don't think that matters, they should all be "Donation Opps"
From here a new window will open, you can place the from/to dates and you can customize the TYPES and the opportunity names have the names of the donors in them. from the left side there are other items you can click and DRAG into the report to add. HOPE THIS HELPS! :)
I sort of came at you as someone who's never created a report, I meant no offense if you already know what I just told you.
