When I first tried the installation, one of the prerequisites - the Office 2007 Primary Interop Assemblies (PIA) Redistributable package - was not found, so the Salesforce for Outlook installer loaded that up. The PIA for 2007 then appeared as installed (as expected) in my Add/Remove Programs control panel. Note that I am running Office 2010, but the installer thought I needed the PIA for Office 2007 - more on this in a moment.
Following the PIA 2007 installation, the Salesforce for Outlook installer picks back up and automatically continues with the Salesforce for Outlook installation - which then fails within a few seconds with the error "Before you can install Salesforce for Outlook, you must first install the Office 2007 Primary Interop Assemblies (PIA) Redistributable package." But this is already installed.
Thinking perhaps the PIA included with the Salesforce for Outlook installer was corrupted, I uninstalled PIA 2007 and downloaded PIA 2007 directly from Microsoft. I reinstalled PIA 2007 and then separately ran the Salesforce for Outlook installer, but get the very same error.
Thinking perhaps the error message itself is poorly worded - I am running Office 2010, and would expect to need PIA 2010, not PIA 2007 - I uninstalled PIA 2007 and downloaded PIA 2010 directly from Microsoft. I installed PIA 2010 and then separately ran the Salesforce for Outlook installer, but get the very same error (still referencing the PIA 2007 dependency).
Just for kicks, I loaded both PIA 2007 and PIA 2010 - they are both installed right now - but the Salesforce for Outlook installer continues to stop with the above error.
I'm stumped. Has anyone run into this before?
