How do we edit the task Type options that show up in this arrow button in the activity timeline? (I'm on a Lightning account page, for reference.) We recently updated our task Type picklist options but those changes are not reflected here, so I must need to update them manually, but I can't find where/how!
@Chloe Orcher Yes I figured it out! Go to Accounts in the object manager, and select the “Buttons, Links, and Actions” page. In there, click on the New Action button in the upper right.
My use case was that I wanted it to create a task, so if it’s the same for you, you’ll set the Action Type to “Create a Record” and the Target Object to “Task.” From there you’ll fill out what you want the label and name to be. After you click Save, you’ll also be able to set up the layout and choose which fields you want to be visible and/or required.
To add it to the dropdown on your page layout: go to account Page Layouts and open the layout you want to add it to. Select the “Mobile & Lightning Options” category and then you’ll be able to drag and drop the New Action you created into the Salesforce Mobile and Lightning Experience Actions section of the page. (You can also remove Actions from the layout by removing them from that section too.)
