I have a few questions about the new Mapping Parameters feature. I wasn’t able to join the webinar live, but I did watch the recording and I’m still a little confused about a few details.

We’ve only had one gift that has run after the update so far, so maybe with more gifts the ordering would be more clear, but in any case:

1. Right now in custom mapping, I can get the answer to an open-text question using the exact question name and map the answer to a field on the Contact, Account, or Opportunity. That’s very helpful because it’s easy to make sure that the questions follow the exact same phrasing on all forms. For the new mapping parameters feature, it seems that it determines the key based on the order of the question in the form. So, the first question is {Answer.Order.0}, the second is presumably {Answer.Order.1} etc. How does that work when you have multiple different forms with different orders to questions? If on form 1, the first question is “Organization Name” and on form 2, the first question is “Do you want to receive emails?”, if I map {Answer.Order.0} to a field on the opportunity, what will the result be when a donation to each of the forms is processed? Will the same field fill with the answer to a different question?

2. The main reason we were hoping for more customizability with mapping custom questions is for our C&P Autoresponder emails. Particularly, we wanted to get the open text answer to the question “Organization Name” and display it in the email. In the autoresponder designer, we can’t get fields from the resulting Opportunity (since the receipts are based on the C&P Transaction and there could be multiple opportunities for a transaction). I can get data from the Contact and Account, but in this case someone can give personally and also from their organization, so it really depends on the individual transaction  whether I want to show the Organization Name value or not (and they could give from multiple organizations). So, I can't rely on mapping the field to Contact/Account. In the webinar, it sounded like this new mapping parameter feature would allow us to access some more of that C&P Data information in Autoresponder. Is there more guidance on how to do that? I’m not seeing a way to do it currently (besides the list of all questions which was already there and not what we needed). And I can’t seem to map the questions to custom fields on the C&P Transaction record from Custom Mapping either (which would then allow me to use them in the autoresponder).

Thanks for your help!

    @Robert Vap

    Thanks for the update. After I sent my first response, I noticed that the campaign SKU suffix comes through, so that should work for us. And that's a good point that fields can be moved around separately from the campaign details order, I forgot about that.

    Here are my additional questions:

    I did some more testing and I still can't get the field values to show up in the autoresponder template. I put the merge field in, but when I do a test send (after loading a transaction) it just shows the merge text and not the value.

    At first I thought it was just because I loaded a transaction where the field didn't exist, but I specifically checked one that did have the value and it doesn't work either.

    Any ideas? Would it be better for me to open a support case to troubleshoot this more?

    Also, I see that when existing recurring gifts process after the update, they have the mapping parameters section, but the values seem to all be "{Answer.Order.null}", etc. I assume that's because they were set up before the update. Is there a way to update those gifts to get the correct mapping parameters (besides canceling and starting a new gift)?
