We are in the process of migrating into NPSP. I am planning to migrate some data into Relationships and Affiliations. My question relates to the use of Reciprocal Relationships.
My preference is to use Reciprocal Relationships, but the alternative is to use a single Relationship record to store the reciprocal part too, and then use some Visualforce to render the relationship onto both Contacts. This appears to have some benefits:
- Halves the number of records
- Simpler data management - No need to keep the two records in sync etc.
My question to those that use Relationships is have you found any bugs or issues with reciprocal Relationship getting out of sync, causes merge issues, or any other issues? If it is solid and reliable it is the preferred (out of the box) option.
