I have set up a Sharing Rule that grants Read/Write access to Public Groups based on a company's branch (custom field).  There are managers who should be able to manually share records like Opportunities that belong to their assigned Branch.

Even though they have Read/Write access to branch records that they don't own - because of the sharing rule - the "Sharing" button does not appear.

I don't want to set the "View All" option for each record type (ex. Opportunities), because they should only be able to see Opportunities that belong to their branch.

We are trying to avoid Role hierarchy as Users can switch back and forth between Branches, and we don't want to be updating their Roles all the time.  Sharing Rules with Public Groups is doing the trick for everything except getting the Sharing button to appear.

Any ideas?

Hi Prashant.  OWD is Private in order to prevent people from seeing Accounts that we don't want them to see.  (Company has multiple Branches who shouldn't be able to see each other's stuff.)  The Sharing Button only appears if you are the record owner or if your Profile has been given at least "View All" rights for an object.

A little more detail:  I set up Sharing Rules to give Read/Write access to Accounts (and other objects) according to what branch the User belongs to.  (One Public Group per Branch.)  This enables a User to be assigned to multiple branches if need be, which is something you can't do using Roles.  But while the Sharing Rule gives a User Read/Write access to records they don't own, it doesn't seem to give them the ability to Share the record with another person.  (i.e. The Sharing button doesn't appear.)
