I am completing the “Protect Your Data in Salesforce” project, specifically the “Create Sharing Rules” step.

I created the VPs Public Group with these four roles:

  •  VP of Services
  •  VP, International Sales
  •  VP, Marketing
  •  VP, North American Sales

The group Label is “VPs”, Group Name is “VPs”, and “Grant Access Using Hierarchies” is enabled. The four roles are also correctly created under CEO in the role hierarchy.

However, when I verify the challenge, Trailhead still says: “We can't find members in the VPs Group. Make sure you've included all the VPs in the list.”

I have verified that the required roles are selected in the VPs group. Could you please help me resolve the challenge verification issue?

    Hey Akshath,

Per the official steps, when creating the VPs group, you select Roles (not "Roles and Subordinates") from the search picklist, then select ALL the VPs shown in that list and add them, not manually pick four specific role names one by one.

If you added them via "Roles and Subordinates" instead of plain "Roles," the group membership type stored is technically different even though it looks the same in the UI, and that mismatch can cause this "can't find members" verification failure.

    Fix:

    1. Edit the VPs group

    2. In the search dropdown, confirm it's set to "Roles" (not "Roles and Subordinates")

    3. Remove the four roles and re-add them from that exact list

    4. Save, then recheck the challenge

Also double-check the four roles are created directly under CEO with exact naming (e.g., "VP, Marketing" not "VP Marketing"), naming mismatches also break the checker.
