Hi all! I have two issues that I'd love to discuss that are both related to the Einstein activity capture. My team members all have the gmail salesforce add-on. Some of them had set Einstein to auto-capture all their emails and events, and others were manually logging their emails/events from the sidebar.

Recently, the auto-capture has been forced on for all team members. If they disable it, it will turn back on over the next couple of hours. I've talked with the other admin on my team and none of them remember making changes to this. It also only seems to be happening to the team members below me in the heirarchy as my sidebar still let's me manually log emails.

So my first question is: is it possible that certain profiles/roles have been forced to turn on Einstein? If this is a setting somewhere, where would I find that?

Now, when auto-capture is turned on for emails, I am noticing that the email appears differently on the activity history for the opportunity/account. When an email is manually logged, the email is in a gray box and the activity says "(team member) sent an email to (contact)".

When it is auto-capture, the email in the activity history is in a white box and it doesn't say "sent an email". See attached images.

The issue I have with this is that I am trying to create a report that filters out accounts with recent activity (last 30 days) by using an Accounts with Opportunities report type and cross filtering Accounts without Activity with the subtype = email and the date = last 30 days. This correctly filters out accounts with emails that were manually logged but not those that were auto-logged.

Since some of my team members want to continue using the auto-capturing feature, I need a way to count these emails as an activity

Thanks to anyone who can assist with one or both of these!

@Nick Koberstein depending on how you have Einstein set up, they emails are likely being logged as an EmailMessage object, rather than an Activity, which can make reporting tricky. Depending on your edition, you might be able to report on these with Activity 360 Reporting as described here: https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sf.einstein_sales_activity_reporting_overview.htm&type=5

As far as your users auto-connecting, I would review your configuration to see how the permissions were assigned: https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sf.aac_setup_create_configuration.htm&type=5

And your users can revoke the connected accounts on their end: https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sf.aac_connect_additional_accounts.htm&type=5
