@Pankaj Agrahari has published an updated version of Salesforce Dark Theme, refer to the LinkedIn post. I haven't tried it yet but at first glance it seems to be a big improvement.
Did a quick test:
- Initially not compatible with Dark Mode for Salesforce being active
- Initially requires page reload to activate on Trailhead
- Leaves force.com background and Trailhead header white
- Artefacts around activity timeline icons
- Some issues with colours, background, foreground, borders
- However overall, a substantial improvement over the first version
