I understand the way auto-association works for campaign influence is that it is reliant upon campaign members being assigned as a contact role on an opportunity. This works fine for leads that get converted. However, for companies already at the account level, if a contact on that account is in a campaign, and then an opportunity is created, that contact is not automatically assigned a contact role. We cannot always rely on our sales team to add the proper contact role in every case, especially if the contact from the campaign directs them to someone else not in the campaign. Does anyone know how to automate campaign influence on the account level? So that opportunities created on an account with at least one contact from a campaign (probably a campaign within the last month), automatically get associated with that campaign.

Unfortunately the contact that is part of the caSompaign needs to be added to the Opportunity Contact Role to be considered under Campaign Influence.

If every opportunity at a business automatically was related to a campaign just because one contact was in a campaign it could overinflate your campaign ROI.

Instead I would look for ways to make it easier for reps to add contacts to opportunities or alert/remind them to add them if there are not any related contacts. Custom flows and actions can help with this.

You should also seriously look at Einstein Automated Contacts. It will look at who is included on emails and events and automatically add them to Opportunities. This helps the sales rep stay organized and saves time and helps you with your marketing metrics. It is an add-on product but can easily pay for itself.
