Hi Salesforce Community,

I need help recovering access to my Salesforce Developer Edition org for Salesforce CLI/VS Code.

I can currently access the org successfully in my browser and can use Setup, Reports, Objects, and other Salesforce features. However, I don't remember the password for this org.

When I use "Forgot Your Password?", Salesforce asks me to answer the security question, but I don't remember the answer. Therefore, I cannot complete the self-service password reset.

I need to connect this existing org to Salesforce CLI so I can retrieve my Salesforce metadata into VS Code. I do not want to create a new org because my existing RideNova project configuration is already in this org.

I can provide the required account/ownership information privately through an appropriate Salesforce support process.

Could someone please guide me on the official process for recovering the password or otherwise regaining CLI/API access to my existing Developer Edition org when I still have access to the org through my browser?

Thank you.

    If you can access the org already I'd just create a new System Admin user and use that to connect to your VS Code. Make sure to use a password manager to store these details for future reference.

    When you're logged in as the new user you could run anonymous apex to force reset the password of your current user if you wanted. (You could probably do this step withotu creating the enw user, but at risk of accidentally locking yourself out I'd make sure you have a second user)

    //Enter username of User to Change

    String username = '';

    //Set the new password

    String password = '';

    User u = [SELECT Id

    FROM User

    WHERE Username = :username

    LIMIT 1];

    Id userId = u.Id;

    System.setPassword(userId,password);

    If you have successfuly authorized vs code and logged in then its all good. Dont worry about org name. There are sfdx commands that can be used to find out information about authorized orgs

Hi everyone,

If you are testing your agents locally using Agentforce DX / Vibes and hitting a generic "Something went wrong" error pointing to missing permission sets (like AgentforceServiceAgentBase or EinsteinGPTPromptTemplateUser) during live test execution, check your sub-agents.

The Issue: This often happens due to an unpopulated reference in the agent script under Local Events. The Fix: Look at your Check Events action under your local sub-agent. If the Reference action type is blank, manually select or set it as a Prompt Template. You can right-click the script and run AFDX: Validate This Agent to verify your structure before starting the simulation server again.

Hope this saves some troubleshooting time!

    If you’re testing locally with Agentforce DX / Vibes and get a generic “Something went wrong”

    error mentioning missing permission sets like AgentforceServiceAgentBase or EinsteinGPTPromptTemplateUser, don’t only check permissions.

    In some cases, the real issue is an unpopulated reference in the agent script.

    Go to your Local Events sub-agent and check the Check Events action. If the Reference action type is blank, set it to Prompt Template.

    Then right-click the agent script and run

    AFDX: Validate This Agent before restarting the simulation server.

I have installed VS Code and all of the needed SF components - cli and extensions. I am able to connect to an org by running the following in a command line:

sfdx force:auth:web:login -d --setalias ORG --instanceurl INSTANCE_URL

Having done all of that the name of the org that I am connected to does not display in the lower left hand corner of VS Code as it should.

Any tips?

I've done this many times in the past but recently when setting up a new project in VS Code, I'm unable to right click on a package.xml and select "SFDX: Retrieve Source in Manifest From Org". The option doesn't appear. The option is also not available in the command palette in VS code.

I have created a project, authorized an org, and set a default org in VS Code. There is an sfdx-project.json file in the root directory and there is a package.xml file in a manifest directory with a standard sf package that was generated when the project was created.

I am able to retrieve using the command line directly, but would love it if I could figure out what is going on with my VS Code setup. Any ideas?

    I'm just connecting to a sandbox, not to a production org. Does a prod org need to have source tracking enabled to retrieve metadata via a manifest?

    Hi @Renzo Gómez Césare Can you please confirm if you're still seeing an issue? If yes, can you please mention the Module and Unit name or URL so that we can look into it and can help you further?

    If your issue is resolved, can you please mark the appropriate response as "Best Answer” or post the resolution that helped you in resolving this issue? So that it can help the other Trailblazers.

    Thanks!
