Return to a playground previously created...

Hi Regan, this is a common mix-up and nothing's actually broken on your end. 

First, the "Production" label: a Trailhead Playground IS technically a Developer Edition org, and Salesforce's login system classifies Developer Edition orgs as "Production" (as opposed to "Sandbox") for org-type purposes. That's expected — it doesn't mean you landed in a real company production org, it just means the org type isn't "Sandbox." So seeing "Production" next to your playground isn't itself the problem. 

The real issue is likely that the old link/bookmark you used took you through a generic Salesforce login rather than back through Trailhead's own playground manager, so you ended up on your list of connected orgs instead of the specific playground tied to your module. 

To get back to the right one: 

1. Log into

2. Click your profile photo (top right) > Hands-on Orgs (sometimes labeled Playgrounds) 

3. You'll see all your Connected Orgs, each with a name and expiration date — find the one matching your project/module and click Launch next to it, don't use an old bookmarked URL 

If it's not listed there, it may have expired — playgrounds tied to specific badges/projects do expire, and once gone they can't be recovered; you'd need to create a fresh one and redo the steps. 

Also, don't launch playgrounds via a plain

link — always launch from either the Hands-on Orgs page or directly from the "Launch" button on the specific challenge/module unit page. That guarantees you land in the correct playground with the Trailhead-specific data intact, rather than whatever org your browser session happens to default to.
