Hi Trailblazers,

I'm stuck on the following hands-on challenge:

The step checker keeps returning:

"We can't find a data stream for the Knowledge Article object"

, despite everything appearing correctly configured.

My setup:

Data Streams:

CaseArticle_Home, DataCategory_Home, DataCategoryGroup_Home, Knowledge__DataCategorySelection_Home, Knowledge__ka_Home, Knowledge__kav_Home, LinkedArticle_Home

Data Lake Objects (all Active, updated today July 13):

  • Knowledge_ka_Home — 20 records, API Name: Knowledge_ka_Home__dll, linked stream: Knowledge__ka_Home
  • Knowledge_kav_Home — 20 records, Active

Steps already taken:

  • Full Refresh on ka and kav, waited 10–15 minutes before rechecking
  • Recreated the bundle from scratch multiple times
  • Verified DLOs are active, records populated, streams properly linked

Everything looks correct on my end. I believe this is a step checker bug. Could a moderator please review and manually override this challenge step if appropriate? Happy to provide screenshots.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Cyril, first — you're not imagining it. This exact error ("We can't find a data stream for the Knowledge Article object" on Unstructured Data in Data Cloud > Ingest Knowledge Article Data) has been reported by multiple other Trailblazers this same month, so it does look like a genuinely known/current issue on Salesforce's side, not something wrong with your config specifically.

A few things worth trying before escalating, since your setup otherwise looks correct:

    1. Confirm you used the Knowledge data stream kit specifically, via "View Bundles" — not individually added objects via "View Objects." The step checker for this unit is verifying against the bundle's expected object/stream naming, and manually recreating individual streams (even with matching names) sometimes doesn't satisfy the checker the same way the bundle deployment does.

    2. Check exactly which object the checker is looking for. The unit's own instructions say to "select a Knowledge object and review the data mappings... in the Data Lake Objects tab" — so it's actually validating the DMO mapping, not just stream existence, despite the error text saying "data stream." Double-check that Knowledge__kav_Home (the article version object) specifically has active field mappings to a Knowledge/Article DMO, not just that the DLO has records.

    3. Full Refresh timing: you've already waited 10–15 min, but some learners have reported needing closer to 30–45 minutes after a Full Refresh before the checker picks up the change, since a Full Refresh reruns the whole pipeline, not just the mapping.

    4. Try a completely fresh Trailhead Playground for this specific badge rather than reusing/recreating on the existing one. A few reports suggest a corrupted bundle state from repeated recreation attempts on the same org doesn't always fully reset even after deleting and redeploying.

If none of that clears it, this is the right move: report it directly via Salesforce Help > Trailhead Help (not just the community), since a step checker that's failing correctly-configured work for multiple people at once is exactly the kind of thing that gets flagged for a manual credit/fix by Trailhead support — community moderators here typically can't override individual challenge checks themselves.
