We're looking at starting to record all income and expenditure into Salesforce so that we can have a full overview of our overall business position. Is anyone else recording expenses in salesforce? Just wondering how you manage this if so?

Current considerations:

- Expense Opportunity Record Type?

- Different campaign structure/campaign record type for expenditure?

- Same campaign but make the opportunity amount a negative?

Any thoughts, tips, advice would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

    Good morning -

We do use Salesforce NPSP to record money out (distributions, grants, etc) as well as funds in (donations.)

For money out, we have the Funding Request Object.  It is in the Outbound Funds application. We can record money requests, which program they belong to (scholarships or general requests or...), how they're disbursed (object), and the GAU (object for which fund the money comes from.) Reports can be created in the usual way.(screen shot below.)

I do not know if the Outbound Funds is standard in any NPSP, or if it was part of a custom package for us.

    I hope that helped.
