I am working in an Experience Cloud site with High Volume Customer Portal Users. Goal is to provide access to accounts where the User Contact is linked via a Primary Contact or other lookup field. I don't see the ability to select Account as a shared object, and assume this is a licensing issue.

Is there any way around this? If relevant, I'd like the site user to be able to:

  • create and edit records in a custom object related to the account
  • update custom fields on the Account
  • create contacts

    Thanks -

Unfortunately 1 definitely won't work - I was initially trying this approach, based on a successful implementation for another client. But the High Volume Customer Portal Users don't have access to the Sharing table, apparently. Trying to insert the manual share records gave me an error. I think what you propose for #3 involves Sharing Sets, and I don't see the Account as an option when working in Sharing Sets for this license type. As far as #2, the records involved do have a lookup to the Account, but my Contacts are not children of the Account, so I don't know that this works either.

    The setup is this:

I am using the NPSP Household model, so all contacts are children of their Family Accounts. Some of these contacts are also representatives of member organizations, linked to the Account via Affiliation. The Primary Contact for the Account is linked via a lookup. As a representative of the member organization, I want contacts to be able to log in and:

    • Manage Events (custom object) affiliated with their Member Organization, whether or not they themselves created those events (and see related Event Registrant information)
    • Update address/contact and public profile information on the Member Organization Account Record.
    • (least importantly) Manage which other contacts have access to perform these actions as authorized representatives of the organization.
