Hello,

I'm looking for some advice on best practice when it comes to MC Connect.

In an Enterprise 2.0 scenario where you have multiple business units in Marketing Cloud (ex. BUs per geographical market) and the data for all these business units resides in a single salesforce org, is it best practice to have a single SF-MC connection at the parent BU, and then use queries to pass the relevant records to the relevant child BUs?

Or is it better to connect each individual BU to the SF Org and place a filter on the object sync (ex. MC_UK_BU_SYNC = TRUE) so that records go straight to the relevant BU?

In the situation that you're describing, if all of the business units and the top-level account are going to be using the same Salesforce Org's data, having the integration at the top level and filtering down the data via shared data extensions and folders would be the easiest.

There is the option to potentially share your synchronized data extensions via the permissions area in the Marketing Cloud, but this has been hit or miss in my experience. It is more reliable to share the information with the other business units (you can also apply permissions on these data extensions as well so that the appropriate individuals access the information they should).
