For one of our upcoming projects, we have following requirement: "When an order is activated, create an invoice immediately that we can send to the customer." From my knowledge on, there are 2 ways to generate invoices: - The 'Bill Now' functionality on Order - The use of an Invoice Scheduler The easiest + best way seemed to be the 'Bill Now' functionality since it creates an invoice immediatly from an order. When reading up on the Salesforce documentation, I have noticed that the 'Bill Now' functionality on order can not be used in automations (https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sf.blng_bill_now_guidelines.htm&type=5). Now is my question: What would be the best way to fulfill this requirement? - Create an invoice scheduler for EVERY order that we want to immediatly invoice (+ There will be a delay of 1-2 minutes for the scheduler to run) - Ignore the recommendation and use the 'Bill Now' functionality - ?
Running invoice scheduler for every order is not a good approach. I think using Bill Now is your best bet. If it does not already exist, ability to generate invoice automatically after order is activated is a worthy candidate for an idea.
