How can I 'Log A Call' using the Salesforce for Outlook sidebar, why is it not an available action?

Is it possible to Log A Call or make a New Note using the Salesforce for Outlook sidebar? if not, why not?

    Yes, I have seen this app but I do not understand why this is not native to Salesforce, it seems like a very basic functionality that should be expected. Thanks
