I'm working with the new Contact Merge functionality with NPSP and I am noticing when I click on Duplicate Contacts, I get the following error message:

Map key 0GK1I000000yZAvWAM not found in map

Error is in expression '{!URLFOR($Action.Contact.View, firstContactOfDRS[

drs.Id

])}' in component <apex:repeat> in page npsp:con_contactmerge

I've made sure the profile used has all NPSP Apex Classes and Visualforce pages enabled. Any thoughts what may be causing this?

    I have also encountered this error. It is caused by there being a duplicate contact that the user does not have access to. This VF page does not handle this gracefully and crashes with the above error. The 0GK key is the record id of the DuplicateRecordSet record.

    To work around this bug you can either grant View All on the Contact object or set up sharing in such a way that the user has access to all duplicate contacts that are likely to be picked up by this tool.

    Hope this helps!

I am doing a large import of contacts, and would like to control the order that contacts appear in the Manage Household feature. We are an organization serving students, so we have a large number of households with 3 or more contacts. I need to ensure that both parents appear as the first two contacts in the Manage Households screen.

I've been updating the Primary Contact (Account: Contact ID) field to designate who sits in first position. But I am curious if someone has found a way to designate second position.

I do have (limited) knowledge of Apex, so if there is a hidden field that needs adjusting this is (probably!) within my skill set to figure out.

Thanks!

    @Michael Beaty, thank you for this! When I go to the Manage Household VisualForce, what field does it use to determine which order to show me the Contact cards? It seems like it's not Household Naming Order, because that field doesn't populate when I create Contacts outside of Manage Household. I can create households with multiple Contacts out on the Account record, and none of those Contacts have populated Household Naming Order values. And yet the Manage Household page decides somehow how to order the cards.

    We are struggling because we have a downstream system creating large mail lists with custom greetings. Our need is to pull data from NPSP that will tell us which of the household Contacts is first in the Salesforce greetings, and which is second, so we can build custom greetings using the same order of names NPSP is using for Formal Greeting and Informal Greeting. @Steve Payne

as in Dear {{campaign member name}}

You are included in the {{campaign}} and there will be a meeting on zoom at {{Campaign_zoomlinkinfo__c}}

etc.

Is there a way to do this without involving 3rd party apps? I know how to create lookups from Campaigns in the object Campaign Members, but I can't figure out how to access those fields in the template builder. Copying the name from the field list in Campaign member, as I did in the zoom link info above, doesn't work. (yes I know the other field names are bogus). Is there some permission I need?

    I encountered the same limitation last week while attempting to create an email template using campaign member and campaign fields. I believe this is a limitation on cross object merge fields in lightning email templates; the classic email templates seemed to allow for more sophistication on the merge fields, but I don't want to revert to the classic templates. I'm watching the responses here hoping there's a solution.

Hi all! Anyone using Vertical Response that can speak to whether their Salesforce integration is functional? Seemed like there were some reviews indicating problems with the sync. We're on Mailchimp now and comparing competitors that hopefully play nice with Salesforce (Vertical Response, Send In Blue, Constant Contact). Thanks!

Recently we have made a change to the account pages and have a field become required. However, there is an issue when adding contacts. When I go to enter a new contact (from the contact tab), I include the account (that has the field completed) but receive an error saying the field isn't complete. I cannot add this field to a contact page because it isn't a contact field, it belongs to accounts!

Can I have a required field in an account without it impacting creating a new contact in NPSP?

If I go onto the account page, I can create a new contact from that page with no issues. However, this is not our best practice.

I am a new admin, thank you for your help!

Is there a way to get an email reminder of when someone's passing is coming up so we can send a card to their loved one?

    @Meghan Wall Hi, Meghan! You can set up a Flow or Process Builder process to send an email to remind you of this date. I'm assuming you'd have a custom date field for the date of their death, then you'd base the process/flow to trigger in advance of that. For instance, a week, etc. Here's the Trailhead on Getting Started with Business Automation: https://trailhead.salesforce.com/en/content/learn/modules/business_process_automation

My organization moved to Salesforce about six months ago and we currently have around 2,500 contacts in our database. It was just this past week that I noticed when I search for some contacts, they do not always show up.

I open the All Contacts list view, but when I search for some contacts they do not come up. I double checked the list view filters, and the filters are correct. Once earlier this week, I reset the filter and then the contact search function worked properly. I tried doing the same thing again today when I searched for a contact that did not show up - but this time, the filter refresh did not work.

If I search for the contact in the master search bar, the contact comes up. I can also locate the household record or a related opportunity record and click into the contact from there. These "missing" contact records were entered into Salesforce over a month ago.

Is this a problem anyone is familiar with?

    Hi @Sophia Horinek! When you search a list view, only the first 2,000 records in the list view are searched. For example, if your contacts list view contains 8,000 records and you want to search for a contact that starts with “Z,” that contact likely won’t be included in the search results. To get around this limitation, you can sort the Contact Name field from Z to A so that the “Z” contact falls within the first 2,000 records listed. You can also add filters to make the list view more specific. Here's some additional details in the Help and Training article: https://help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=basics_search_list_views_lex.htm&type=5

With the screenshot attached, why would Salesforce connect the Head of the Household with the child when naming the family, like, "Mr. Bob and Ms. Kristina Harlow and Family" (when the Mom's name is Lynne and the daughter's name is Kristina.)

Can you tell me how I should reorder this in the template so Salesforce knows who is the head of the household, and who's the spouse? It's annoying to go back in and change them all by hand.

Hello, can anyone confirm for us if it is possible to customize the out of the box NPSP Email Opt Out functionality with our own pop-up messaging when someone attempts to send an email to a contact record that has been marked as opting out of emails?

I'd like for this to behave similarly to the Account Billing Address archiving in the Account Address related list and not sure if there is a setting for Contact Addresses somewhere.
