Trouble with apostrophes in Apsona merge document?

Question

Hi, everyone! I am testing an email & document merge in #Apsona. My Word file is in the Documents object in Salesforce. When the PDF is generated after the merge, any apostrophes are being formatted funky. :(

Any tips on how to format apostrophes properly in the Word document so there is no issue showing them as they should be once the PDF is generated? Hi  @Rachel Park Brayboy https://trailblazers.salesforce.com/profileView?u=0053A00000DCwdPQAT ,  Are the apostrophes in the template or the merged text? You might want to check exactly what character they are.  There are the curly apostophes that Word likes to use ’ And then the standard apostrophes '   Either way if you have the curly apostrphes in your merged text where users typed the data in excel and then copied it in OR if the curly apostrphes are in the template, that might be the source.   Just something to check.    Best,  Jason

@Jason Ott https://trailblazers.salesforce.com/profileView?u=0053A00000FSKrvQAH  It WAS the apostrophe option -- THANK YOU!! :)     There were actually extra steps I had to complete on a Mac which I am including below, if this helps others:     To address issues with apostrophes when converting a Word document to a PDF on a Mac, you need to ensure consistent use of either "smart quotes" (curly apostrophes) or "straight quotes" (typewriter apostrophes) in the original Word document before exporting. The conversion process itself is a standard function of macOS and Word for Mac.     Managing Apostrophe Style in Word (Mac) The most common issue is a mismatch in how different programs or operating systems handle "smart" (curly: ’) versus "straight" (typewriter: ') apostrophes, which can cause display errors in the final PDF if fonts or settings are inconsistent.  Open Microsoft Word  on your Mac. Go to Preferences : Click on the  Word  menu in the top bar, then select  Preferences . Access AutoCorrect settings : In the Preferences window, click on  AutoCorrect . Manage Smart Quotes : Select the  AutoFormat As You Type  tab. Under the "Replace as you type" section, you can check or uncheck the box for " "Straight quotes" with “Smart quotes” ". To use smart (curly) apostrophes : Ensure the box is checked. To use straight (typewriter) apostrophes : Ensure the box is unchecked. Apply changes : Click  OK  to save your settings. Fix existing text  (if needed): If you changed the setting and have existing text with the old style, you can use the Find and Replace function to update them. Copy one instance of the desired apostrophe style, open Find/Replace ( Command + F ), paste the character in the Find box, type the desired character in the Replace box, and click  Replace All .  Converting the Word Document to PDF Once the apostrophes in your Word document are consistent with your preference, you can convert the file to PDF using the native macOS functionality. This method is generally reliable for preserving formatting.  Open your Word document  in Microsoft Word. Go to File > Print  in the top menu bar. Select "Save as PDF" : In the Print dialog box, look for a  PDF  dropdown menu (usually in the bottom-left corner). Click it and choose  Save as PDF . Choose a save location : A dialog box will appear, allowing you to choose the name and location for your new PDF file. Click Save  (or  Export ) to create the PDF.  Alternatively, within Microsoft Word, you can go to  File > Save As , select  PDF  from the "File Format" dropdown menu, and click  Export .
