We're running a pilot of Einstein Activity Capture in our org for events only, and have it set to sync events from Outlook to Salesforce, not from Salesforce to Outlook.
Many of our users add details in the out-of-the-box description field on the events for how the call went, any notes they have, etc. They're finding that at some point, their notes are being overwritten by some sort of update from Outlook, leaving only the meeting agenda in the description.
I'm having trouble pinpointing where the issue is. I was not able to reproduce the problem until I started using a new version of Outlook, created an event and added notes, then switched back to the old version. That caused my notes to be overwritten.
Does anyone know what triggers cause Outlook to push an update to Salesforce? Definitely don't want it to seem like everything is going well, then a freak incident occurs a month after EAC is launched and causes all of someone's notes to be overwritten.
As of right now, the best option we have is to instruct them to use the OOTB Notes component on the event. Will require a behavior change from years of just updating the description.
My first thought was to create a long text field on the event object and map the Outlook description into that so they can continue adding their notes in the standard description field, but you can't create a long text field on the event object, and you also can't use custom fields in EAC mapping.
Open to anyone's thoughts here, specifically around what triggers cause updates to push from Outlook to Salesforce!
