i need to add a new type of activity here (see picture). I already created a new one in the global actions, but how do i add it to the layout now?

@Carolina Esposito help scroll down below Custom Buttons.. you will see another section "Quick actions for lightning experience". Your screenshot only shows Custom Buttons and i can see the scroller at right side can be dragged down further
