Visual Studio Code unable to Authenticate Org

I'm attempting to complete the Trailhead Project: Quick Start: Visual Studio Code for Salesforce Development. In the third section (Use Visual Studio Code for Salesforce Development) your asked to authenticate to your playground. At this point I get a connection timed out error no matter what I try.

    Hi,

     

    Steps to authenticate VS code with Salesforce Org:

     

    1. Add the enviornment variable in your system:

     

    go to my computer right click on properties then on advanced setting, Click Environment Variables - Click New

     

    Enter below :

     

    Variable : HTTP_PROXY

     

    Value : http://proxyusername:port

     

    *Value is your company proxy.

     

    2. Go to cmd promt type set HTTP_Proxy=http://proxyusername:port

     

    make sure to enter your company proxy and port in above format.

     

    3. Go to Visual Studio code type : sfdx force:auth:web:login -a abc22 -d

     

    * If visual studio is already open please close first and then enter above code. -a is for alias and -d is for default.

     

    It will open a new window, login with your credentials and allow access.

     

    You will get success full message on Visual studio code.
