We are using the Connect for MS Outlook 2003 and we are having the following problem: If a user provides the wrong password in the toolbar settings, the toolbar will repeatedly try to connect with the wrong password. We do not get any error message, the toolbar will just reconnect until the user is locked out because of too many failed log-in attempts. This is really annoying and it is causing a lot of users to be locked out of Salesforce on a regular basis.
Is this the normal behaviour of the toolbar? Is there anything we can do about it?
Thank you for your time.

Hi Herbert
When accessing Salesforce from outside of your company's trusted networks, you must add a security token to your password to log in to a desktop client, such as Connect for Outlook, Connect Offline, Connect for Office, or the Data Loader.
New security tokens are automatically sent to you when your Salesforce password is changed or when you request to reset your security token.
Follow the steps below if you see an error message "Failed to login to Salesforce" when you click on any buttons on the Outlook edition toolbar
1- Login to Salesforce.com from the Internet Explorer (or any other browser)
2- Go to Setup > Personal Setup > My Personal Information > Reset Security Token
3- Click on the gray "Reset my security token"
4- Check email for new Security Token password
5- Double click on the security token to select it and then right click on it to copy it
6- Go to Outlook > Tools > Salesforce Options
7- Enter your Salesforce password and paste the API Security Token right after your password. For example if your password is MYPASSWORD and token is XXXxxx you need to type in: MYPASSWORDXXXxxx
**You can use the ctrl + v key combination on your keyboard to paste the token in the password box
8- Click verify and after few seconds you should see the "Successfully logged into Salesforce.com" pop-up message.
9- Click OK
If the issue persists, please perform the steps provided in the below web link:
