The fix that's actually confirmed to work here: when you install/log into the Salesforce Chrome extension, there's a "Keep me logged in" checkbox shown only at login time. If you missed checking it during your first login, the extension won't maintain a persistent authenticated session the way the challenge checker verifies.
Fix:
1. Log out of the Salesforce Chrome extension completely
2. Log back in, and this time check "Keep me logged in" before submitting
3. Confirm you're logged into the same Playground org the challenge is checking against
4. Go back and click Check Challenge again
Also worth confirming: Setup > Feature Settings (or Sales Cloud Everywhere settings) has "Use Salesforce Across the Web" enabled for your user, that's required for the Chrome extension to function at all, if it's off, the extension technically can't authenticate properly even with the checkbox ticked.
