Migrating from Salesforce EDA to Education Cloud — Tool Recommendations

Has anyone migrated from Salesforce EDA to Salesforce Education Cloud using Salesforce’s Data Migration Kit or another migration tool? 

 

We are starting to evaluate options for migrating both metadata and data from EDA into Education Cloud and would be interested in hearing from others who have gone through this process.

A few specific questions: 

 

  1. Did you use Salesforce’s Data Migration Kit, a partner/vendor tool, custom scripts, Data Loader, MuleSoft, or some combination?
  2. How well did the tool handle EDA data model differences, relationships, affiliations, courses, terms, and other higher ed objects?
  3. Were there major gaps that required manual cleanup or custom migration work?
  4. How did you approach metadata migration versus data migration?
  5. What lessons learned, risks, or “watch outs” would you share with another institution starting this process?

Any feedback, recommendations, or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi John, 

     

    Migrating from EDA to Education Cloud is a complex Salesforce transition given the higher ed-specific data model. Maybe this EDA to Education Cloud Migration Guide will be helpful to you. 

     

    There are also out of the box AppExchange solutions built specifically for EDA-to-Education Cloud migration scenarios that can handle field mapping, relationship sequencing, and data model transformation as part of the process.
