Hi all, I’m planning to take a Salesforce certification exam soon, and I heard there have been some updates in the exam format and Pearson VUE's online proctoring system.
For those who have taken a Salesforce exam recently using OnVUE (online):
- How was your experience with the new Pearson VUE system?
- Any changes in the exam pattern or question types that you noticed?
- I’m particularly concerned about the ID verification and room scan process — was it strict or smooth?
- Did anyone encounter issues with the ID photo not matching or system setup delays?
Any tips or insights from your recent experience would be greatly appreciated!
Hi, I took an exam this past Friday. (Integration Architect; passed!) It was my 13th cert, so I've seen a few of these. Also, I had recently taken & failed the same exam on Webasessor two weeks ago, so this is a very apples-to-apples comparison. I was wary of taking an exam on a "v1.0" system but it went fine.
The actual exam format itself is very similar. The question flagging functionality (i.e., to come back later) is slightly different but I think it's actually better. There is also new functionality to submit question feedback from the question itself, rather than at the end, which I also preferred. Questions were very similar, and in some cases I think identical to the question bank from Webassessor.
The computer preparation & validation process is a bit different. I took the exam on Windows 11. For that platform, you download an .exe to launch the exam, but you do not need to install software. The ID & testing workspace validation was noticeably much stricter than Webassessor had been, particularly in the past year or two. My original ID picture must have had too much glare, because the proctor had me re-take the photo and come back. They were MUCH more strict about showing the full workspace. You have to take pictures of the desk from the front, back and sides, and then the proctor had me also show her the same live with the webcam. I had to move a few things off a nearby shelf that were never a problem in the past. But again, we got through it quickly enough, and they were helpful and professional about it. The whole validation process probably took about 10-15 minutes.
I'd have no concerns about taking another exam on the platform.
