When you look at a contact record page, you can see a related list for Opportunities. This displays any opportunity where the contact has a role, even if the role is not donor.
Example is Bill Clinton makes a donation, and Hilary Clinton gets a soft credit because she's a household member. Both contact record pages show the same donation.
I want to be able to separate, or at least identify, the soft credits from the donations where the contact is the donor. I can't think of a way to do that given the soft credit information is in the Contact Role, not the Donation.
In fact, the way this related list works is a mystery! A related list is for a directly related object and is available through lookup or master/detail relationship fields. There is no "soft credits" relationship field on Opportunity (it's the Opportunity Contact Role junction object).
What magic has NPSP implemented here?
Can it be tweaked to allow two separate related lists on Contact?
Thanks, Neil. That's a great new feature. It will be interesting to see if this particular model will work since opportunity contact role is the child object for contact in this case.
