Tableau User Group board | New York / New Jersey

Hi guys I am a rookie and I have a problem i need help with. I am trying to color code columns to represent Age Group. However the cells that are not associated or cells that do not have relevant data are also getting colored.

For eg Category Izvie only has data with values Elementary or Primary under Column Age Group but the cells under High and Super high are also filled w color. I want these 2 cells, for eg. to be blank. How can I do that

Basic overview on what I am trying to measure:- I am just distinct counting ID Column and show it by Main category, Sub Category, Category and Age Group.

Attached is the tableau file. I have looked at many videos and tried to solve it with an ATTR() field at column level but could not. I hope I can get some help.

How to remove color from cells w no data

Hi,

I need to switch between worksheets in a dashboard. Instead of using a dropdown parameter to toggle between sheets, I need to achieve the functionality by running filtering actions on selecting a sheet( Show/Hide) .

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello, I am in a data visualization class in grad school and am floundering.  I learn better when someone sits next to me and watches me and tells me in real time what I'm doing wrong.

Anyone up for tutoring?  I will pay.

Kevin and I have been in touch, but if anyone else has questions, I offer 10-15min to chat through any questions / provide an estimate of timing for training, and then market-competitive rates per hour, with discounts for non-profit / education as well as if you buy a block of hours.  Typically a few hours are sufficient for most users and sessions can be done remotely via online screenshare, however, I also can provide custom on-site training for larger training / consulting engagements.

As you may have read above,

in addition to my corporate experience and consulting work with Tableau over the past 6+ years, I teach a course on data visualization for NYU.

Feel free to reach out over linkedin (either inmail or connect with a note mentioning training and including your contact information)

Hello,

I'm wondering if there's a way to "draw" a line in tableau.

I have a bar chart showing total sales over 3 years, I don't want to annotate it, I just want to have a line marking a certain level on one of the bars, it only applies to one year. I thought about adding a reference line, but I just want this line on one bar and I also don't have a measure existing for the comparison needed.

Is there any easy way to do this, or a work-around that works?

Thanks in advance!

Elysia

    Hi Elysia,

Would something like this accomplish what you are looking for? On the dashboard, you can add a floating blank box. Then in the layout tab, update the background to the color you would like and resize the box to the size you would like:

I have been getting multiple questions on the Difference Between Creating Groups on Geographical Location Before Tableau 10.0 and Creating Custom Territory introduced in Tableau 10.0 . So I worked on Sample Super Store and created Group on State in Tableau 9.3 and did the same exercise in Tableau 10.0 using the feature Create Custom Territory in Tableau 10.0 . I took screen shots of them and have shared my results in the below link. Please  let me know in case of any questions / concerns / feedback .
