Labeling certain categories in a stacked bar chart

Question

Hi all,

I wish to label a certain category of data in a stacked bar chart. Using the superstore data example below I want to just label the Technology category with the sames amount.

I am aware that I can label the Technology category by choosing selected labels within the Labels mark but the problem is that my data is daily so I'd prefer not to avoid having to select each new Technology data point each morning.

Is there a way that I could label just the Technology category and leave the other two unlabeled?

Hi John,

Sure ! The easiest way is creating a calculated field called "Label 1 only" with the following code

Sum ( If [Category] = "Technology" Then [Sales] END )

You need to place this in the Label Shelf.

What this does is only show the Label values if the above condition is met . Hope this answers your

Came across this older discussion and wanted to add my two cents  The calculated field trick is great. I've been using a similar approach with a parameter for the category selection, which makes it more adaptable for daily use  Anyone else tried that?
