I having trouble using get to a Custom SQL query which, is published on the Tableau server and being used for Ask Data using Tableau 2020.4.8. The problem is that the data has grown to 105 Million rows and it time out when trying to retrieve the Custom SQL query.
I even tried to download the published data source via a new workbook but, all I get is the Dimension and Measures. No luck on any other approach!
I am hoping that there is a different out of the box approach towards getting the Custom SQL query before it gets any bigger.

What is your end goal? To get the custom SQL query behind the connection?
If so, you can download the published data source, open in desktop, then go to data source, then you should be able to see the custom sql query underneath.
