Trying to determine if this is a bug or a setting I need to turn off - either way it has been impossible to solve being that my question uses very common terminology:

How can I delete a Parent Container with multiple Child Containers contained within?

When I upgraded to Tableau 2026.1.1, I am unable to Remove a Container containing multiple items from my dashboard.

  • I select the parent container and then the option "Remove from Dashboard" -> Warning: Delete Layout Container -> "Delete Container" -> nothing happens
  • I go into the Layout tab again select the option "Remove from Dashboard" -> Warning: Delete Layout Container -> "Delete Container" -> nothing happensUpgraded to Tableau 2026.1.1, now cannot delete Parent Containers that have multiple Child Containers within

When I revert back to Tableau 2023.3, I am able to Remove a Container containing multiple items again (sorry yes I hadn't updated in a long while)

  • I go into the Layout tab again select the option "Remove from Dashboard" -> Warning: Delete Layout Container -> "Delete Container" -> parent container and all children containers are deletedTableau 2023.3 remove containers.gif

@Don Wise Yup, that looks like my bug.  Thank you!
