Hi everyone,

I’m using the Salesforce Chrome Extension to log calendar events to Salesforce, and I’m running into an issue specifically with shared Google calendars.

Environment:

  • Google Workspace (Gmail + shared calendars)
  • Salesforce with SSO via Okta
  • Using the Salesforce Chrome Extension

Scenario:

  • I can access and view events from a shared calendar in Gmail
  • These events are not part of my primary calendar, but I have full visibility

Issue:

When I try to log a shared calendar event to a Contact in Salesforce, I receive the following message:

Even after authenticating, the behavior is inconsistent, and shared calendar events still don’t reliably log.

Observations:

  • Events from my personal calendar work as expected
  • Shared calendar events either:
    • Trigger the Google access prompt repeatedly, or
    • Fail to log entirely
  • It feels like the extension cannot properly access or recognize shared calendar events

Questions:

  1. Is this expected behavior due to how Google permissions work with shared calendars?
  2. Does the extension require events to be owned by the authenticated Google account?
  3. Is this related to how OAuth consent works between Google and Salesforce?
  4. Are there any known workarounds beyond copying events to my personal calendar?
  5. Would tools like Einstein Activity Capture handle shared calendars better?

Any insight into how Google account access and shared calendar permissions interact with Salesforce integrations would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!
