Salesforce for Outlook using Okta SSO

Hi, 

I would like to know if someone had successfully configured Salesforce for Outlook using Okta SSO as Identity Provider.

Currently, we are using Okta to login in Salesforce and prevent users from logging in directly to https://login.salesforce.com. Under Domain Management > My Domain > Authentication Configuration, we only check the SAML Config that we create in the Authentication service field.

In the salesforce for outlook settings, I select "other" in the dropdown and put our domain in the field. This domain is the same endpoint we use to login in the web browser which redirect us to Okta login page. But in Salesforce for Outlook connector, the login page doesn't show thus giving us an error message of "unable to connect to xxx.xxxx.xxx.com. Check the url or internet connection"

    Hi Sonny,

    If you have My Domain set up (and, if you are configuring SAML, you should!), you can configure Salesforce for Outlook with the domain (e.g. mycompany.my.salesforce.com). As described in the docs,

    [...] click Change URL and pick the server to which you want to connect. If the server you want isn’t listed, select Other... and enter the URL, such as a custom domain used by your organization.

    Now the plugin will use the custom URL to do OAuth, rather than the default login.salesforce.com. The Salesforce authorization server will recognize the incoming My Domain hostname, look up the org config, and redirect to the SAML identity provider (in your case ADFS) appropriately.
