Does anyone know why I can't find record tagging in Lightning but it's available in Classic?

I am trying to add record tagging to our org per a request however I can only find this option in Classic with an option to download an App in Lighting. Does anyone know if they are will bringing this feature into Lighting or does that mean they are discontinuing the feature in Lighting? Any clarity for my question would be greatly appreciated.  #Tagging
