Error: The symbols have not been retrieved from Salesforce. Try to save or compile your class to retrieve the symbol table.

I created a personal developer sandbox and have been able to create classes and triggers for the past month or so, however when I open the Dev Console today, the Run action doesn't appear in the upper right corner and when I click Go To it says:

"The symbols have not been retrieved from Salesforce. Try to save or compile your class to retrieve the symbol table."

I've tried looking up what to do and I found this article but I don't know what or how to use ApexClassMember, MetadataContainer, etc. to get the SymbolTable. 

I appreciate any help!!
