How to turn off email verification for external Community users who have already authenticated via an Open ID Connect Auth Provider?

I've got a community that was set up with SAML for authentication. We've transitioned over to an Open ID Connect Auth Provider. Now, users are asked to verify their identities upon login. This was not the case with SSO (SAML). Any way to get authentication via an Auth Provider to behave similarly to SSO where the email verification is not required?
