Can anyone help with a Validation Rule?

Question

I have two fields on a Case and I would like to create a Validation Rule based on these. The first is a CHECKBOX (IsEscalated) and the second is a TEXT AREA (Escalated_Reason__c).

I want to the Validation Rule to display an error along the lines of 'Escalated Reason cannot be blank if Escalated is checked' if the Escalated Checkbox is checked and no information is entered into the Escalated Reason field.

I currently have the below in place but, it displays the error whether the Checkbox is checked or not so I have clearly done something wrong!

OR(

ISBLANK( Escalated_Reason__c ),

IsEscalated = TRUE)

Can anyone help with the correct critera?

Hi Lee,

You will need to put both your Statements in the AND Function

AND( 
ISBLANK( Escalated_Reason__c ), 
IsEscalated = TRUE)

As per the above if IsEscalted checkbox is set to True and Escalated Reason is blank the validation rule will be triggered.

As per your previous formula if either Esclated checkbox is True or Escalated Reason is blank the validation rule will be triggered
