Automatically generate an index number each time I create a new opportunity

Question

I have created a custom field within opportunities and I want to generate an index number within this field each time I create a new opportunity. The first index number will be 840058 and it will increase by 1 each time a new opportunity is created. For example the next opportunity created will have an index number of 840059 and so on…….

Would someone be able to give me a piece of code that I can populate and drop into the formula editor when I edit the field.

Hi Ramsay,

You can create a Custom field of Auto Number Data type and have the starting Number as 840057

Please see the screenshot below. Even though the screenshot sas 840058, your starting number should be 840057
